Merryn Corcoran is a best-selling novelist, Executive Producer, publicist and philanthropist
Merryn was born in Christchurch New Zealand in the late 1950’s. She always believed there was far more on her horizon than she could find in the two islands of her birth country. After training as a nurse, working as a fashion model and opening her own shop before she was 21 she left to travel the world. The mistress of “reinvention”, Merryn firmly found her feet in London as a successful entrepreneur.
Merryn lead a fund raising committee for 10 years which was instrumental in raising a million pounds for UNICEF UK via an annual Celebrity Ball. She was made an UNICEF Honorary Fellow in 2007.
Her first novel, The Silent Village, was published in 2013 becoming a best seller in New Zealand and one of three finalists in the The People’s Book Prize competition 2015 in the UK.
Her subsequent novels, The Paris Inheritance and The Peacock Room were also best sellers in New Zealand, and The Peacock Room made the UK WH Smiths summer holiday choice reads 2019. Her most recent novel Behind the Butterfly Gate was published in 2021.
Merryn is married to Tim Corcoran a corporate lawyer. They have a daughter Emily who is a London based actress and film maker. In addition to writing novels, Merryn works for Cork Films, Emily’s London based film company as an executive producer and publicist.
She now divides her time between London, where she has lived for the past 20 years, the South of France and New Zealand.
